Raynaud's disease causes smaller arteries in the skin to constrict in the cold, causing numbness. Scleroderma is the chronic tightening and hardening of skin. Raynaud's is an early sign of scleroderma. Organ tissues can be affected as well, causing complications like severe pain and reduced organ function.

Facts about Scleroderma (from American College of Rheumatology)

  • Scleroderma is relatively rare, affecting about 75,000 to 100,000 people in the US.

  • Most prevalent in women ages 30-50.

  • There is no cure for scleroderma, but there are certain medications that can help manage symptoms.

  • There are 2 main types: localized (affecting certain areas only, typically on the skin) and systemic (more severe, affecting entire organs and muscles).

  • Scleroderma can be life-threatening.

A portion of proceeds from the sales of our Raynaud's & Scleroderma Disease bracelets is donated to the Scleroderma Research Foundation. The SRF is America’s largest nonprofit investor in scleroderma research, recruiting experts in immunology, genetics, rheumatology, and fibrosis to find a cure.
